David Benavidez Already a fan favorite due to his fighting style, but in order to become “the face of boxing,” Benavidez named three fighters he believes he must defeat in a row.

The “Mexican Monster” is a two-division world champion. He defeated Ronald Gavriel in 2017 to become the youngest super middleweight world champion (20 years old) in boxing history and was promoted to the WBC light heavyweight champion last year.

Now, just three fights into the light heavyweight division, Benavidez is moving up again as he Challenge Gilberto “Zudo” Ramirez for the WBA and WBO lightweight world titles this May 5th weekend.

talking Project DanzaBenavidez revealed that he plans to return to 175 pounds after his fight with Ramirez and then face Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev in back-to-back blockbuster fights to prove he is “the face of boxing.”

“I’m going to fight Zurdo Ramirez, then I’m going to fight (Dmitry) Bivol, and then we’re going to fight (Artur) Beterbiev.

“That’s three fights. I’m not going to shy away from not having a fight. I could go against Zuldo Ramirez, then go against another guy, then Bivol, then this guy and that guy, and then Beterbiev, but I just want to go right into them.

“I feel like I’m in the prime of my career and I’m confident now. I’m 29 years old and I feel like I have the world in my hands, so I’m going to take on these challenges.”

“Now, I feel like I’m on the verge of becoming the face of boxing. The only way to do that is to fight in these big fights, which is why I try to get myself into the biggest fights possible.

“When that time comes, I don’t want people to doubt that I’m the face of boxing.”

One notable absence from Benavidez’s roster is IBF lightweight world champion Jai Opetaia, who continues to press for a unification bout in the 200-pound division and Hopefully Benavidez can provide him with that opportunityif he manages to depose Ramirez.
