Holder’s bat-bat massacre occurred in the 17th over of the West Indies innings. After taking the penalty, Holder stepped up and bowled a long ball in the first six overs. The right-hander then delivered the next pitch, a shorter pitch that exceeded another maximum distance. He then hit a shorter delivery deep mid-wicket for 6 runs and the final score was 30 runs.

Sherfane Rutherford’s clinical batting performance and Jason Holder’s brilliant cameo ensured West Indies posted a score of 196/6 in 20 overs against England. Rutherford remained unbeaten on 76 off 42 balls with a strike rate of 180.95, hitting 7 maximums and 2 boundaries. Holder scored a quick 33 runs off 17 deliveries, including four sixes and a four. Earlier, Roston Chase and Shimron Hetmyer finished with scores of 34 (29) and 23 (12) respectively.

Adil Rashid Starred for England, finishing with figures of 2/16 in four games. Jamie Overton also took two wickets, while Sam Curran and Jofra Archer took one each.

In reply, England were 39/1 after 3.3 overs with Josh Buttler and Jacob Besser at the crease. Romario Shepherd took the first wicket, dismissing the dangerous-looking Phil Salt for 30 off 14 deliveries.

Two-time champions England suffered a scare in their first match, beating Nepal with four straight wins.

West Indies, who won the tournament in 2012 and 2016, started their campaign for the 2026 T20 World Cup with a 35-run win over Scotland.
