Race begins to replace Anne Hidalgo as mayor of Paris

The two main candidates in the mayoral elections of Paris have started their campaign. French mayoral elections will be held in March and for the first time in 12 years Paris will have a new mayor. Leading the race to replace Anna Hidalgo, who is stepping down after her second term ends, is fellow Socialist Emmanuel Grégoire, who is currently leading in the first round of polls. But right-wing candidate Rachida Dati is seeking to end the left’s 25-year lead in the capital.
