Rory McIlroy does not want a repeat of the abuse he endured during his European Ryder Cup victory over the United States at Bethpage Black in 2027.
McIlroy and his wife, Erica Stoll, were repeatedly abused by spectators. In September, Europe won 15-13 at the New York Stadium.
The teams will regroup at Adare Manor in Limerick next September and the 36-year-old believes he and his team-mates will be responsible for addressing any disgraceful behaviour.

Asked if he would be more concerned about crowd behavior because of what happened at Bethpage, McIlroy said: “It depends on the home team setting the tone earlier in the week. If you see something or hear something, you point it out right away.”
“This is not the way the Ryder Cup should be played. This is not in the spirit of the original creation of the Ryder Cup.
“We’re obviously going to do everything we can to make sure the game and the competition is played in the right spirit.”
McIlroy is preparing to defend his AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am title, his first PGA Tour event of the year, and believes he won’t face similar treatment this time.
“I think the Ryder Cup is a one-off because I’m on the other team. I hope not. That remains to be seen,” he said.
“The reception I get in most places I go is usually amazing and I’m deeply grateful for that. The Ryder Cup is just a one-off.”
Going into the tournament, McIlroy was ranked just behind Scotty Scheffler in the world rankings, but he knew only a consistent performance could help him close the gap on the world number one.
He said: “I’ll never stop praising Scotty because he’s incredible at what he does and the way he does it. I’ve had my share of good results but I’ve always been a bit up and down.
“Anyone who wants to catch Scottie or get close to him is going to have to play like he does week in and week out. He’s really the first guy since Tiger (Woods) to do that.”
McIlroy’s Ryder Cup teammate Justin Rose also enters Pebble Beach in excellent form, having won the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines with a record score of 23 under, and the 45-year-old believes there is more to come.
When asked about his game, Rose said: “Honestly, I don’t want to overanalyze. I just want to keep working hard. I think that’s the most important thing and I’m continuing to work hard.”
“I can still do better. I don’t really focus on what’s going well, I’m still focusing on what could be done better, so I’m not very good at celebrating the good things, I’m more like asking: ‘Why aren’t things as good as they should be?'”
