A San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman undergoes surgery after being shot

San Francisco 49ers Defensive lineman Keion White is recovering after being shot Monday morning.

White was shot in the ankle and underwent surgery yesterday. His injuries are not believed to be career-threatening but are another incident of gun crime affecting the 49ers. Wideout Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest on August 31, 2024 and missed six games early in the season.

The incident with White happened around midnight, just hours after he attended the Super Bowl at Levina Stadium, home of the 49ers.

A statement from the San Francisco PD read: “On February 9, at approximately 4:06 a.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to a business regarding a shooting on the 1700 block of Mission Street.

“Officers arrived on scene and found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers assisted and requested paramedics to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that a verbal altercation occurred between two groups inside the business. The victim was injured and then shot by an unknown suspect.”

Acquired by the Niners white from the New England Patriots in October. He appeared in 11 games for San Francisco, including the playoffs, recording 16 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
