“She’s 41 years old and this is the end of her career,” he told The Associated Press. “Lindsay Vonn will never compete in ski racing again as long as I have something to say.”
Kildow did not reveal any details about the injury but mentioned her emotional state.
“She’s a very strong person,” Kildow said. “She understands the physical pain and she understands the circumstances she’s in. And she’s able to handle those things. Better than I expected. She’s a very, very strong person. So I think she’s handling it very well.”
Vonn’s family was on hand to watch as she worked to pull off a miracle – winning an Olympic medal in one of the fastest sports at the Games, while also dealing with Anterior cruciate ligament rupture.

But the hope of the day quickly turned to a feeling of melancholy.
“First of all, seeing a crash like this, the whole incident shocked and horrified me,” Kildow said of his feelings witnessing the scene. “It can be dramatic and painful. You’re just shocked by the effects.
“You might get a shock, an emotional psychological shock,” he added. “Because it’s hard to come to terms with what happened. But she’s in good hands… The U.S. Olympic Committee and the U.S. Ski Team have a very, very top doctor with her and she’s in good hands. here in italy“.
Kildow attributed the accident more to Vaughan trying to push himself over the edge than the ACL.
Vaughn is recovering in a hospital in Treviso. She holds the record with 12 World Cup wins in Cortina, Italy, and didn’t seem to miss a beat when she returned last year after a six-year absence.
