India vs Pakistan match goes on as scheduled

A major update on the 2026 India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match, which has uncertainty due to Pakistan’s boycott threat. Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistan are making a U-turn, according to new media reports.

On the evening of February 9, RevSportz claimed in its social media post, “Pakistan will play its T20 World Cup match against India on February 15 as scheduled #T20WorldCup.”

Why does Pakistan call for boycott of India?

Since the Bangladesh cricket team was snubbed at the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, Pakistan has told the International Cricket Council that they will not play arch-rivals India in the group stages of the flagship tournament. The match is scheduled to be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka, a neutral venue between India and Pakistan.

The Pakistani government is believed to have lifted its boycott of the India match as a show of solidarity with Bangladesh. The government’s announcement comes days after a meeting between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It was previously reported that the call for a boycott of India’s matches was heavily influenced by Naqvi, who is also the country’s home minister.

Can Mohsin Naqvi make a U-turn?

However, there is no clear statement on PCB. The Cricket Board is silent on the February 15 match against India. First, the International Cricket Council urged the PCB to reconsider their decision as the boycott call could spell a series of troubles for Pakistan cricket.

Even after the council’s request, the PCB did not issue any clear statement on the matter. Meanwhile, the 2026 T20 World Cup has started as planned. To resolve the issue, ICC representatives met with PCB personnel to discuss the situation and find a solution. According to the latest reports, Pakistan could reverse their decision and could issue an official statement ahead of the highly regarded match.

Salman Mirza also showed positive attitude

On the other hand, Pakistan fast bowler Salman Mirza told the media that they are not worried about the uncertainty of the match against India; they will prepare as per the schedule.

“We are preparing for the entire World Cup. We will play based on the teams we have to play. It will be the government’s decision. We will do whatever is told to us,” Mirza told the media. Pakistan will face the United States in their second Group A game on Tuesday night in Colombo.

If new reports and indications are to be believed, then Pakistan will face India as scheduled.
