Eubank’s name surfaced as sanctioning bodies began scrutinizing the super-middleweight order, where forced positioning often affects careers as much as negotiations. Suleiman spoke directly about Eubank’s physical fitness for the division.
“Of course. Chris Eubank is a great fighter. I believe he has sacrificed too much in terms of weight and he is a natural fighter in this division. Huge potential. Super fighter,” WBC president Mauricio Suleiman told Sky Sports.
“There’s no doubt he’s a world-class boxer.”
WBC review tightens path for Eubank, Mbilli still waiting
The organization intends to have a clear title shot in the coming weeks, with Christian Mbilli currently serving as title contender.
“We will address this in the next few weeks and see what happens with Mbili and the division. Of course, Canelo, (Jaime) Munguia, Lester Martinez, Luka Plantic. There are a lot of fighters who can put up great fights for champion Mbili,” Suleiman told sky sports.
Warren approached the topic from a matchmaking perspective and made it clear that he would not hesitate to connect Eubank and Shirards if the opportunity arose.
“I would do this all day long. All day long. I would bet my house on Hamza’s job,” Warren told Sky.
Eubank’s timetable remains tied to a full recovery. Mbili kept his work rate high by accumulating short combinations in the late rounds. Sheeraz brings reach, straight punches and finishing accuracy. Either fight would force Eubank into a tough bout immediately and leave little room for a gradual return.
