head coach Gautam Gambhir Big statement made on Team India star Suryakumar Yadav 2026 T20 World Cup. Suryakumar led the Men in Blue to the grand event.
Gambhir praised the Indian captain for his leadership and the way he managed the team. The head coach believes that, as well as his individual abilities on the field, his captaincy and connection with his players make things easier for him.
“In this format, he has made my life a lot easier. I think he is a phenomenal leader. Not because of what he does on the field, not because of the type of batsman he is, not because of his shots, all that you can put aside. But the way he relates to the players, talks to the players, spends time with the players, how relaxed he is on the field. Sometimes as a coach you know you can think about other things because he will keep the atmosphere calm, which is a dream for any coach,” he said about Geostar.
Furthermore, he added that Suryakumar had fulfilled all the requirements as a leader. Gambhir also praised the decisions he made under pressure and thought it was great to have someone like him leading the team.
“For me, I think Surya is a player that I can put aside, but Surya as a leader has ticked every box and that makes my life easier. It’s a great thing when you have someone like him leading because his heart is in the right place and he makes the right decisions, especially under pressure.”
India started their campaign for the 2026 T20 World Cup by defeating the United States by 29 runs. They will face Namibia in Delhi on Thursday, February 12.
