Glasgow rangers Center forward Ryan Naderi properly introduced himself to fans by scoring twice in the 8-0 win over Queens Park on Sunday.

The £5m deadline-day signing made his debut for the Light Blues as a substitute in the 5-1 Scottish Premiership win over Kilmarnock but has not opened an account for the club.

Naderi eluded his marker at the back post and nodded in James Tavernier’s corner kick to score his first goal for the Light Blues, making it 2-0.

The German striker scored his second goal of the game in the second half when Oliver Antman raced down the line and clipped the ball to the back post, allowing the forward to get past his defender and head the ball into the net.

Towards the end of the game against Kilmarnock, Rohr started against Queen’s Park with two out-and-out centre-forwards in Naderi and Bojan Miovski.

Rangers started the game in a 4-4-2 formation, which allowed their two No. 9s to occupy the back four and create space on the wings for the likes of Andreas Skov-Olsen, Tur Lomens and Untermann to do damage.

The decision to use two forwards also meant the Light Blues always had players attacking crosses and passes in the penalty area, as evidenced by Naderi’s second goal.

Rangers had five players in the penalty area, with Antmann and Tochi Chukwani outside, and the German center head buried his head in the ball. This was very different from the recent 0-0 draw with Hibernian.

There was a moment in that dull draw when leading Youssef Cermiti ran down the channel and crossed but there was no Gers player in the box.

Using a two-striker formation from the start of games in the league prevents this from happening again and gives the Gers a greater chance of turning these tight games into wins by having enough players in the box to provide a goal threat.

However, this strategy could mean a player’s career at Ibrox could come to an end as there may not be room in the squad for them to move forward.

Thelo Aasgaard was brought in from Luton Town last summer, theoretically providing Russell Martin with a top-notch No.10 who can function at the top end of the pitch.

Unfortunately, the Norway international hasn’t provided much consistency in his performances in the final third of the Scottish Premiership or Europa League.

Asgard has only scored four goals in 30 appearances in these two games since his move from the Caps, suggesting he is not a regular contributor for the Light Blues.

The low point of his season came in November, early in Rohr’s reign at the club, when he was sent off in the League Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic at Hampden Park.

The Norwegian attacking midfielder struggled in the team, neither scoring nor assisting enough to prove that the formation suited him.

If a 4-4-2 formation is more effective, and Sunday’s 8-0 win showed that, then that’s what Rohr should be aiming for throughout the remainder of the season.

This will put Asgard in a difficult situation, because he is not suitable to play in the double pivot, averaging only 1.5 tackles and interceptions per game in the league, and he is not quick enough to make him a natural wide player.

This means that Naderi’s joining provides Rohr with the opportunity to change the formation and try new tactics, but his joining may ultimately be the end of Asgard’s career at Ibrox.

If he doesn’t get much game time between now and the end of the season and has already struggled this season, the former Wigan star could move on in the summer.
