The Seahawks got off to a good start in the game, opening the scoring on a 33-yard field goal by Jason Myers.

But since then, progress in the sector has been slow.

Drake Maye and the Patriots went nowhere against Seattle. National Football League Meyer was the top defense this season, making all five possessions in the first half until Meyer took a knee with seconds remaining in the second quarter.

Myers scored two more goals for the Seahawks, Sam Darnold And the offense can’t find the payroll. At this rate, though, the 9-0 first half lead felt bigger as the Patriots’ offense struggled.

Unfortunately for New England, the long wait for the second half after Bad Bunny’s halftime show didn’t change their fortunes. They punted three more times before Derick Hall took a back-breaking strip sack that was recovered by Byron Murphy II at the Patriots’ 37-yard line.

With a 12-point lead, Darnold ensured that NFL history wouldn’t be the only Super Bowl without a touchdown. He found tight end AJ Barner open for a 16-yard touchdown on the ensuing possession.

However, Barner’s touchdown clearly awoke the Patriots’ offense, and desperation allowed Meyer to relax a little on the next drive. Mack Hollins made back-to-back catches for New England, the first a 24-yard catch that flipped the field. Then, Meyer went directly back to the well and passed to Hollins on the left sideline, completing a 35-yard touchdown pass.

Despite trailing 19-7, the Patriots had some momentum as Darnold missed a long pass from Rasheed Shahid near the end zone, forcing a punt.

But Meyer’s bad night continued after an errant pass fell into the hands of Seahawks veteran safety Julian Love. The Seahawks again scored on a turnover, this time Myers kicked his fifth field goal of the night and set a new record for field goals in a Super Bowl “big game.”

The Seahawks’ four-man charge continued their success with a 15-point lead. But it was another perfect blitz, as multiple Seahawks came home and Meyer was sacked again, this time by Uchenna Nwosu who caught the ball and ran it back 44 yards for the game-winning touchdown.

After a failed two-point attempt, Meyer found Stevenson for a 7-yard touchdown with 2:21 left in the game, making it 29-13. But the Patriots’ effort was too little and ultimately too late.

The Seahawks ran out the remaining seconds and broke out in celebration as the NFC’s top seed completed an incredible 2025 season in the Bay Area.

In terms of scoring, Kenneth Walker III had a solid performance despite not finding the end zone. He set the tone by rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries while catching two passes for 26 yards.

Meyer, on the other hand, was 27-of-43 for 295 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while the Seahawks sacked him six times for 43 yards. He also led the team in rushing on the night with 37 yards to Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson’s 42 yards.
