An article in The Atlantic on Friday accused Texas Democrats of “circular firing squad behavior” in the state. Democratic Senate primaries.
“The party’s latest and most egregious act of circular shooting squads occurred earlier this week when Democrat Colin Allred Quit the Senate The competition is endorsed by Jasmine Crockett, one of the two remaining main competitors. He gave his reasons for doing so in a video posted to social media on Monday,” Atlantic writer Jonathan Chait wrote.
The article cited comments from political influencer Morgan Thompson, who posts on TikTok under the username @morga_tt, claiming that Democratic Rep. James Talarico referred to former Rep. Colin Allred, D-Texas, as “mediocre black manTalarico, who is now facing off against Rep. Jasmine Crockett, allegedly told Thompson that he “signed up to run against a mediocre black man, not a strong and smart black woman.”

Allred exits Senate races in December.
Chait wrote that Allred selected the most “inflammatory response” content to post on TikTok.
“Allred didn’t have Recording and sharing his response to Talarico also does not require him to accept the accusations at face value. He chose the most inflammatory response,” he wrote.
“We’re tired of people using praise for black women to mask criticism of black men,” Allred said.
“Everything about this episode reveals the extent of pathological incompetence. Crockett and her supporters are prying open rifts that will leave scars on them no matter which candidate emerges. They express themselves in social justice terms that might be valid in a student government race at Wesleyan but sound completely alien. most texans”, Chait wrote.
Chait also criticized Crockett’s plan to win over voters he had never gained historically. The progressive firebrand said she No need to win More voters support the president Donald Trump. “Our goal is to make sure we reach people who historically haven’t been reached,” she told CNN in December.
“Crockett said she could help boost turnout among infrequent voters. The idea that there is a hidden pool of left-wing voters who will only bother to vote if a sufficiently progressive candidate piques their interest is a decades-old myth,” Chait argued.

He also believes that concerns about Crockett’s election are not racist; Just as she suggested. Chait singled out podcast hosts Bowen Young and Matt Rogers for telling listeners not to waste money on her campaign.
In response, Crockett said the host meant “Say the quiet parts out loud.”
“I do think the host said the quiet part out loud, which was basically: If a white man can’t do it, then why does a black woman have the audacity to think she can?” Crockett said.

“A fatal flaw of progressive identity norms that treat women and people of color as experts in racism and sexism whose accusations of bias are irrefutable is that they shield bad arguments from scrutiny. Texas swing voters are too racist and sexist to compromise, which means failure is the only morally acceptable option,” he wrote.
