Patriots vs. Seahawks: The story of the tape

The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks are the best teams in their respective divisions this season. They arrived at the big competition after defeating their opponents denver broncos and the Los Angeles Rams in their respective division championship games. Super Bowl X will mark the sixth championship matchup between two teams that missed the playoffs last season.

After a complicated rookie season, Derek Meyer has taken his game to the next level. He went from being criticized to being an MVP finalist. He lost by just one point to Matthew Stafford. Meyer struggled in the playoffs (regular season completion rate 72%, postseason 55.8%).

The Patriots have learned how to win games when the going gets tough, and Meyer has been a big part of that. The offense needs to be productive early in the game or the Seahawks defense will quickly take over.

On the other hand, Sam Darnold and the Seahawks offense have been playing at a high level since the playoffs began against the San Francisco 49ers (41-6 at Lumen Field).

Darnold proved his critics wrong during this year’s campaign. A victory in Super Bowl X would silence them forever.

The defense has been their best unit this season, though, and that’s what Mike Vrabel, Meyer and company should work on offensively. The Seahawks appear to be the best overall team, but the Patriots can’t be ignored.
