At least 42 anti-ice protesters Minneapolis Bishop Henry Whipple was arrested Saturday after chaos broke out outside the federal building to honor Minneapolis residents Renee Goode and Alex Pretty, who were shot and killed by federal agents last month.

One protester screamed through a megaphone, claiming the rally was “peaceful” while the crowd chanted “no justice, no peace.”

The chaos follows a memorial service for Goode and Pretty, which was held a month after Goode’s death at Powderhorn Park, about a 15-minute drive from the federal building.

mayor of minneapolis Jacob Frey claims the group is “spreading love” in social media posts.

“Thousands of people came out to honor and remember Renee Goode and Alex Pretty,” Frey wrote. “Minneapolis is with you — and we will continue to spread the love.”

He made no mention of the subsequent violence and arrests at the Whipple Building.

Protests in Minneapolis have intensified following the deaths of Goode and Pretty in January, both of whom were involved in clashes with immigration enforcement at the time of their deaths.

governor of minnesota Tim Waltz and Frey continued to accuse the government of violating citizens’ constitutional rights by targeting minorities, conducting warrantless searches and weaponizing the Department of Justice, and demanded that ICE leave blue states.

On Wednesday, White House “border czar” Tom Homan withdrew 700 federal agents from Minneapolis as concerns grew.
