Christine Cavallari Shares what she’s learned from relationships over the years, and the one rule she’s set for herself.

While answering fan questions on a recent episode of her podcast, “let’s be honest,” Cavallari discussed the difference between infatuation and love, explaining, “I’ve been confused by infatuations many times. “

“I think what they mean by infatuation is three to six months, so over the past few years I’ve taken the stance that I’m not allowed to say I love you, make long-term plans with anyone, introduce them to my kids, and it’s like the first six months is nothing because I’m someone who gets really excited when I like someone because I’m rarely attracted to someone.”

She went on to say that she was “completely consumed by her obsession” and admitted that she “said I love you to people I probably shouldn’t have said it to” because she was “confused” about her feelings.

When it comes to relationships, she admits she’s only felt this way about three people in her life, “my ex-husband, my boyfriend from 19 and 20 years old, Nick, Steven, my high school boyfriend,” and possibly her eighth-grade boyfriend, joking, “I don’t know if you can fall in love in eighth grade, but if you can, then I definitely am.”

“I love all my friends so much but I don’t want to be intimate with them, like I think that’s the difference between loving someone and being in love with someone, at least for me. I think the difference is attraction,” she explained.

Ultimately, she said, “time will tell” whether the crush at the beginning of a relationship turns into love, adding, “Everyone I ended up falling in love with, I also had a crush on in the beginning.”

Cavallari is married to her ex-husband, the former NFL quarterback Jay Cutlerfrom June 2013 to October 2020. The former couple has three children together: Camden, 13, Jackson, 11, and Siler, 10.

After her split from Cutler, Cavallari announced she was dating TikTok founder Mark Estes, posting an Instagram post of the two with the caption, “He makes me happy.”

After becoming Instagram official, she faced backlash online from those who had issues with the 13-year age gap. In response, she posted a TikTok in which she lip-synced a voice asking, “So what are you going to do about it,” and then, “are you going to arrest me? Can you give me a ticket? “

“When they all rush to say (I’m) dating a 24 year old girl. Then what?” she wrote in the caption.

The two broke up in September 2024 after seven months of dating.

She opened up about the breakup on her podcast in October 2024, saying she broke up with him because “I just knew it wasn’t the right thing in the long run.”

“I only know him in the long run need to experience life. He is very young. I’m starting to feel that age a little bit through life experiences,” she said. “I look back at when I was 24 and how much has happened in my life since then. Those were critical years. Those were the formative years. He needs to be able to do that when you find yourself. “
