Netflix’s Animated ‘Ghostbusters’ Movie Shows Signs of Life



You may have forgotten that Sony and Netflix are working together BRINGING Ghostbusters in animationbut they, and theirs animated film finally making some progress.

A recent report from Jeff Sneider revealed that the untitled movie has just secured a writer Dolface writer Sam Jarvis. He is the latest writer to join the project after Yoni Brenner and Kristy Hall, who wrote earlier drafts of the script. According to Sneider, the film directed by Kris Pearn (The Tiger’s Apprentice) and will be an entirely new entry in the franchise.

Sony first announced its plans to make an animated Ghostbusters movie back in 2016 with the initial premise of telling a film from the perspective of ghosts. It’s currently unclear if this movie will go that route, but the studio has been trying to make new cartoons from the property for a while now: a Netflix series announced back in 2022 with a few leaks of information in the years since, such as being in CG and animated by Legend of Aang studio Flying Bark. At the time of writing, it is also a question mark if this animated movie and movie will connect in any way.

And what about the next live-action movie after that Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire? One might as well in the works at the time of writing, so if you’re a fan, it looks like you have a good amount to look forward to in the near future…which will all end with Netflix sooner or later because it and Sony tight like that.
