West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd scored a brilliant hat-trick against Scotland in the second match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Saturday (February 7).
Chasing 183 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Scotland, Romario Shepherd rejoined the attack and bowled his 17th over. Scotland are at 132/5 and need 51 runs from the last four overs to register a famous victory.
However, Romario Shepherd’s hat-trick in the 17th round all but ended Scotland’s hopes. He ended the match with as many as four wickets while conceding the only run, leaving Scotland in trouble at 133/9.

Romario Sheppard scores hat-trick against Scotland:
At the beginning of the game, Mark Watt hit a single and gave up a strike to Matthew Cross. Romario Shepherd then took three wickets in the next three balls to give his team the lead. He dismissed Cross first after the Scotland batsman hit the ball straight to the backward fielder.
On the third ball of the over, Romario Shepherd bowled Michael Leask who hit the ball to long off where Rovman Powell took a nice catch.
On the hat-trick ball, the West Indies star completed the astonishing feat by bowling Oliver Davidson cleanly. It was a seaming delivery, shaped from outside off, and Davison was absolutely destroyed by it. Sheppard wasn’t done yet, he also took a wicket off the last ball. Thanks to the fourth wicket, Shepherd also completed his five-wicket haul in the match.
West Indies start campaign with a win:
West Indies ended up winning the match by 35 runs to start their World Cup journey in a strong manner. Scotland did have the possibility of a famous victory but their challenge ultimately failed, especially after Sheppard’s hat-trick. Scotland were eliminated in all 147 games. Earlier in the match, West Indies were at 182/5 with Shimron Hetmyer (64) scoring 50 runs.
