Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said that while many Republicans praise the president Donald Trump In public, some of these figures have criticized him privately, naming senators who are outspoken Trump allies. Lindsey GrahamR.S.C., as an example.
When starring in “War of Time and Space”, online section of”Interact with Bill Maher in real time,On Friday, Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland asked Christie “what are Republicans going to say to each other when we don’t listen to what’s going on in America right now.”
“Look, a lot of my party members, especially, are coming to me for saying all these things out loud, and they – in the green room at ABC, they’ll say, ‘You’re brave. That’s awesome. I totally agree with you. (Trump’s) crazy guy.’ And then they go out and do interviews, and they say, ‘The greatest president since Abraham Lincoln,'” he responded. “Then they came back to the dugout and said to me, ‘You know, I have to do this, but I don’t really feel like it.'” That’s what they said. “

Following up on Christie’s claims, host Bill Maher asked the former governor which specific Republicans were involved in this behavior.
“Bill, ‘Overtime’ isn’t long enough to give you all the names, but I’ll give you one. Lindsey Graham,” he told Maher, eliciting shocked reactions from the panel and the crowd.

Christie and Trump have had a complicated relationship over the past decade. Although Christie supported Trump after ending his own presidential campaign in 2016, the relationship soured after the president refused to concede the 2020 election to former President Joe Biden, and Christie later publicly criticized Trump’s 2024 campaign.
While facing calls from fellow Republicans to drop out of the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, Christie offered event advertising Touting him as “the only one” in his camp calling out Trump.
“Some people say I should drop out of this race. Really? I’m the only one who says Donald Trump is a liar,” Christie told the camera.
Christie’s events said the ad is the first of their seven-figure ad buy in New Hampshire, which holds its first primary and second overall race on the Republican presidential nominating calendar after the Iowa caucuses.

In the ad, Christie accused Trump of “pitting Americans against each other,” adding that the then-former president’s Christmas message to anyone who disagreed with him was “rotting in hell.”
