Baldur’s Gate 3 is the next game to get the HBO treatment and be a streaming seriesbut the game’s developer Larian said it was not directly related.
HBO has tapped The Last of Us showrunner Craig Mazin to create, write and executive-produce a live-action fantasy TV show, Deadline reports. But while The Last of Us a faithful interpretation of the game, Baldur’s Gate 3 show will be a new story featuring the characters of the game.
Care of Vinckefounder and CEO of Larian Studios, said in a post on X that the studio was not involved, but that he had spoken with Craig Mazin, as reported by Slash film.
Not to my knowledge. But Craig came over to ask if he could come to the studio to talk to us. From our conversation, I think he is a big fan which gives me hope.

The TV show will follow new, “starter” characters, according to The deadlinewho encountered the current powerful participants in the game in a continuation of the story. Similarly, the Fallout The TV show uses familiar characters from the play (such as Mr House) but a new story.
HBO did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Baldur’s Gate show is the second set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe after all The Forgotten Realmswhich is reported to improve the Netflix.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the biggest game of 2023, which has won many awards. The roleplaying game makes good use of the deep lore of the Forgotten Realms setting. As CNET’s Oscar Gonzalez wrote, the game follows a group of characters who have parasites implanted in their brains, and they must work together to get rid of them before they become mind flayers.
Meanwhile, Larian is currently working on a sequel to another popular one roleplaying series, Holiness.
