Saim Ayub’s emergence came on the heels of Pakistan’s flawless 3-0 series sweep in Australia, where he played an important role with both bat and ball. The 23-year-old scored 119 runs in the three games of the T20I series and also took three crucial wickets, proving his worth as a genuine match-winner.

With his stunning performance in the home series against Australia, Ayub defeated Zimbabwe’s experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza to once again become the world’s number one all-rounder in T20I cricket. Raza has now slipped to second position in the latest ICC T20I rankings.

Ayub’s fearless batting and nimble off-spin bowling make him one of the most exciting weapons in Pakistan’s shorter formats. His form will be crucial for Pakistan in the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup as they aim to win the tournament for the second time after winning it in 2009.

Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz lead bowling rise in latest ICC T20I rankings

Apart from Saim Ayub, several Pakistan players also made a jump in the latest ICC T20I bowling, batting and all-round rankings after their stellar performances against Australia.

Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has made a huge improvement in the bowling list. He has moved up two places to second place after taking six wickets in three games against Australia. He is now just 28 points behind India’s Varun Chakravarthy, the top-ranked T20I bowler.

Mohammad Nawaz, another Pakistan star, jumped eight places to seventh place in the bowlers’ list after taking 5 wickets in the T20I final against Australia. The left-arm spinner has also improved his all-rounder rankings, moving up one spot to fourth in the latest ICC T20I rankings.

Sam Ayoub shines, global changes occur in batting rankings

Talking about batsmen in the updated ICC T20I rankings, Saim Ayub has made a strong comeback, moving up 8 spots to 27th, while his captain Salman Ali Agha has jumped 12 spots to 29th.

India opener Abhishek Sharma remains the world’s number one batsman in T20Is. There have been changes in the top ten, with England’s Jos Buttler rising to third, Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka to fifth, India’s Suryakumar Yadav to sixth and New Zealand’s Tim Seifert to ninth.

The latest ICC T20I rankings have batsmen from 7 different countries in the top 11. Meanwhile, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has moved up 16 spots in the batsmen rankings, while South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has moved up 15 spots to share the 22nd spot with a rating of 599 along with teammate Aiden Markram.

India’s Ishan Kishan jumped 32 places to 32nd, while South Africa’s Ryan Rickelton was one of the players with the biggest jump, climbing 42 places to 40th in the latest rankings. On the other hand, England spinner Adil Rashid has moved up two places to fourth place and New Zealand bowler Mitchell Santner has moved up eight places to joint 23rd place.
