Jamie Redknapp has backed Arsenal to win “two or three” trophies this season as they beat Chelsea to reach the Carabao Cup final on what manager Mikel Arteta described as a “magical” night.

“Arsenal are ready to win,” he said. sky sports.

“They’ve had to deal with so much pressure the last few years, but I look at the roster and the depth and the way they play, they’re the best team by far.

“They haven’t been at their best recently but I think this result will actually relax them. They might be able to start enjoying it more and play with a little more flair.

“They played a little tight, a little safe but now I think they can start to relax and play and we’ll see a better Arsenal, the Arsenal we saw at the start of the season.

“To be in a cup final, six points clear in the Premier League and to be a top team in the Champions League is an absolutely incredible effort.

“There’s no reason why they can’t win two, or even three trophies.”

He added: “Arsenal have been focused on winning over the last few years.

“The manager has done an unbelievable job.

“He gets a lot of criticism and people are quick to judge teams and jump in, talk about their set-piece scoring and say, ‘Is their attack good enough?’

“Arsenal is a winning machine now.

“It’s not always great. It wasn’t great when Arsenal won the league in 1989 but there were no pictures on the scorecard.

“At the end of the year, no one cares. It’s just about getting the trophy in your hands.”

Arteta thanks crowd after Manchester United boos

Arteta had a special night for his team and thanked the fans for their support after they were booed after the recent 3-2 loss to Manchester United.

“We’re delighted,” Arteta said after the game. “I think overall, in these two games, we deserved to advance.

“It was a long game. We expected it. We ended it in a nice way with Kai scoring the way he did and getting a reaction from the crowd.”

“The starters, the finishers, the staff were all there. It was amazing. It was really nice because it was a very difficult game against a great opponent and we were at Wembley.

“I thought the crowd today was brilliant. They brought so much energy and belief to the team at different moments. I think we should all come together at Wembley.”

He added: “It’s the best vitamin we can put in our body because we play a game every three days.

“The fact that you work so hard to achieve these moments and spend these moments together is just magical because you can see the joy, the smiles, the energy and everything.”

Arteta also paid tribute to match-winner Havertz, who made just his sixth appearance of the season after an injury-stricken season.

“I think everyone who knew Kai was happy for him in a special way because he deserved the best for the way he worked, the way he treated people and the way he conducted himself every day.

“Today was a special moment for him and I hope he enjoyed it because he fully deserved it. I think his teammates enjoyed it too.”
