Ishan Kishan has been in stunning form since his return to international cricket. In the recently concluded five-match series against New Zealand, he scored 215 runs. Only Jasprit Bumrah can cause trouble for Ishan Kishan
Ishan said Bumrah was the toughest bowler he had faced in the IPL, but in doing so, he revealed a secret about the Indian pacer. Ishan said that whenever Bumrah is on the court, whether in a game or in the nets, Bumrah will show 100% status on the court. He said in a podcast on his YouTube channel, “Among the spinners, I found Yuzi bhai (Yuzvendra Chahal) difficult to bowl; I think he has figured me out. In terms of pace, I mean, there is no one better than (Jasprit) Bumrah bhai. Let me tell you a story. Bura maan jayenge. (He might be upset) I say this everywhere. When we practice, we often get different wickets. Some will be on the pitch and others will be dry. But as long as the pitch is on the pitch, the bowlers usually take care of the batsmen with ease. If the batsman hits the ball to mid-on, you know he will bowl a string of bouncers.
Ishan Kishan always maintains a relaxed mood
Jasprit Bumrah and Ishan Kishan are long-term teammates, with the latter playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Premier League (IPL) from 2018 to 2024. He was selected by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2025 and scored 354 runs for the Orange.
In the podcast, h also mentioned the funny side of Shubman Gill and how he and the current ODI captain became partners and how they created interesting moments, along with former India captain Rohit Sharma. In the video, he also mentioned his funniest moment with Rohit Sharma in the 2023 Sri Lanka ODI series when he was dropped and did not play in the match after scoring a double century.
Ishan Kishan will open for India
Ishan Kishan scored 50 and 1 in the 5-match series but his intention in batting was amazing. More importantly, he showed reliability in the second T20I, when India were 6/2 as they chased a target of 209 runs, blasting 76 runs off 32 balls.
The left-hander has been in purple form and as a wicket-keeper, he is the front-runner to start the innings for India alongside Abhishek Sharma, beating out Sanju Samson who has been out of form of late.
