Conor Gallagher hailed as ‘top’ tottenham hotspur He was outstanding in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at home to Manchester City and backed his team-mates and backed him to get better.
Spurs agree to deadline trade for James Wilson
Tottenham Hotspur have spent much of deadline day locked in a row with Arsenal over a deal for Hearts striker James Wilson.
The 18-year-old forward has become a surprise deadline day hit. Arsenal and Tottenham were locked in a fierce battle to sign him in the final hours before the 7pm deadline.
Wilson burst onto the scene last season, scoring six goals for Hearts, and Arsenal appeared to have an early advantage after negotiations at the weekend, but Spurs stepped in to complete the hold.
Gallagher heaps praise on Simmons after Manchester City fightback
As a youngster arrives, Gallagher has heaped praise on another rising talent in north London.
Spurs were in the doldrums after a dismal first half in N17, but Harvey Simmons’ brilliant outside-the-boot pass set up Dominic Solanke for a controversial first goal before Gallagher’s cross in the 70th minute saw Solanke score a superb back-heeled goal.
It caused an explosion at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and although Harvey Simmons’ late curling effort was tipped over to deny the home side victory, it was the latest strong display from the Dutch playmaker after a mixed start in north London after signing for £51.8million in August.
New arrival Gallagher believes the club have a real star on their hands.
“Yeah, talented player. He’s one of those players you want to have in your squad,” reflected the England international.
“He works very hard and he just wants to win. He has a lot of passion and obviously a lot of quality, so he’s only going to get better and yes, he’s top.”
“That’s why you want him in your team, he wants to have the ball, he’s going to run forward, he’s going to create chances, score goals and yes, he’s great.”
Tottenham coach Frank also expressed his praise for Xavi, who touched the ball 88 times and shot 5 times in the game.
Frank added: “I thought Xavi was outstanding. He was a very good footballer but he was probably an even bigger winner and fighter.
“The way he battles with the team is outstanding and I think it’s impressive how he drives the team forward.”
Tottenham Hotspur’s fightback avoided another home defeat and they have won just two of their last 15 Premier League games despite a four-game unbeaten run.
Pedro Polo, Mickey van de Veen, Kevin Danso and Jed Spence have also been added to the injured list in the past week, but Polo is likely to return to Arsenal in three weeks’ time and Van de Veen is aiming to return to Manchester United on Saturday.
“We hope Mickey will be back at United and Jed hopefully it won’t be too long,” Frank revealed.
