Apple may be preparing to launch the updated MacBook Pro sooner than expected. A report from Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter seems to confirm the rumors that the M5 Pro and M5 Max models will soon be available, with a software update, macOS 26.3.
According to the report, the laptops will retain their design but with faster processors. MacOS 26.3 is likely to be released sometime in February or March, and as Bloomberg notes, supplies of higher-end MacBook Pro models are tight for buyers.
A representative for Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Like the M4 generation of MacBook Pro processors, laptops equipped with Pro and Max processors are geared more toward those who perform processing-intensive tasks such as video editing or 3-D rendering. The Pro and Max versions of Apple’s processors have more CPU/GPU cores and higher memory bandwidth. They may also have a significant price increase compared to the standard M5 processor.
The first one M5 MacBook Pros released last year. A new design for MacBook Pro not expected until 2027.
