Tiger Woods said Monday it will be “a while” before he returns to professional golf after watching his Jupiter Links team capture its first TGL victory in 2026.
Woods last played an official PGA Tour event in July 2024, when he missed the cut for the British Open, and missed the entire 2025 season after rupturing his Achilles tendon last March before undergoing disc replacement surgery in October.
The 50-year-old has competed in just 11 races since his crash in 2021, struggling to perform well on such a limited schedule.
When asked when he could play for Jupiter Links in TGL this season, he said: “Playing here? I don’t know. I love watching these guys play. As far as competitive golf, it’s going to be a while yet.”
Woods, who started three of Jupiter Links’ four losses in the highly technical tournament last year, is officially part of the 2026 roster but has ruled himself out of the early stages of the new season.
Jupiter Links have just two league games remaining on March 2 and March 4, and if they finish in the top four, they will play the semi-finals and finals later that month. However, Woods’ latest comments indicate that he will not compete in TGL this season.
Will Woods play in the PGA Tour Champions and PGA Tour events?
Woods, who turns 50, is free to play in the PGA Tour Champions starting next season, or he can choose to play on either tour once he recovers from injury.
He could use a golf cart during the regular season at the PGA Tour Champions but downplayed expectations for a quick return in December.
“I’m a long way away from that part, that decision, that level of commitment,” he said.

“Unfortunately, I’ve been through this rehab process before, just step by step. Once I get a feel for the practices, bursts, games, recovery process, I can then evaluate where I’m going to play and how much.
“I really don’t have a deep understanding of the Champions Tour schedule except for a few tournaments.”

Last week, Brooks Koepka revealed that when he was released from his LIV contract, Woods was the first person he called to discuss his return to the PGA Tour.
The five-time Grand Slam champion ended his contract with the Saudi Breakout Series a year early because he wanted to spend more time at home with his family.
In addition to being a 15-time major champion, Woods is also the chairman of the PGA Tour’s Future Competition Committee. He remains a player respected by his contemporaries, and Koepka knew he was his first point of contact.

Woods said of Koepka’s possible participation in TGL next year: “Brooks just returned to our tour again at Torrey and he will play at Waste Management this week.
“We’ll have a new team next year and there should be two. I don’t know when that will be stitched up. But who knows.”
“Whether Brooks is going to be on a team or not, but we have a great team here. My kids are here and we have a lot of fun going back and forth and these group texts are just awesome.”
