The Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt has finally reopened after being closed for months due to Israel’s devastating war on the Gaza Strip.

Hopes are high that freedom of movement will alleviate the dire humanitarian crisis caused by the war.

But Israel has set strict conditions on who can leave the Gaza Strip and who can enter it.

Now, only a small number of people are allowed to move in both directions – mainly for medical evacuations.

But much-needed humanitarian aid and construction materials remain blocked from entering the ruined Gaza Strip.

Will this reopening ease the suffering of Palestinians after two years of war?
