The partial government shutdown that began Saturday morning will delay the release of the Employment report for January which was scheduled to be published this week.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Monday that the January jobs report, originally scheduled for release on Friday, will be delayed until after the shutdown ends with the restoration of government funding.
“The launch will be rescheduled when government funding resumes,” BLS Associate Commissioner Emily Liddel said in a statement. “Once funding is restored, BLS will resume normal operations and will notify the public of any changes to the news release schedule in the BLS Release Calendar.”

The release of recent economic data was interrupted by an earlier government shutdown that lasted 43 days from when the government’s fiscal year began on Oct. 1 until mid-November, when a bipartisan deal was reached in Congress to end the longest government shutdown in US history.
