Juventus may look to revive their interest in Crystal Palace Striker Jean-Philippe Mateta broke up after moving to AC Milan.
It has been reported that the France international had problems with his medical which prompted Milan to pull out of the proposed £26 million deal.
It is a blow for the player, who was keen on a move from Selhurst Park to the San Siro, as well as both clubs. Milan now have some time to find another striker while Palace could keep hold of Mateta despite expressing a desire to let him go.
Wolves’ Jørgen Strand Larsson could also be affected with Palace’s bid to sign him now in the balance. Palace made a £48m bid for Strand Larsson which was accepted by the Molineux club, who were hoping to replace the Norwegian with Adam Armstrong from Southampton.
Mateta was also wanted by Juventus before Milan led the race to sign the 28-year-old, who scored 56 goals in 186 appearances for Palace.
Eagles boss Oliver Glasner claimed he was left out of the squad for yesterday’s 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest because he was not mentally in the “right place” to play. The stalemate left Palace in 15th place in the Premier League table, nine points above the drop zone.
