Connor Benn agrees to fight Shakur Stevenson, but on one condition: ‘Be prepared’

Conor Benn appears to be interested in a fight with Shakur Stevenson if the right terms can be agreed upon.

Stevenson became the sport’s fastest four-weight world champion last weekend in New Yorkwhitewashing Teofimo Lopez with the best performance of his career.

After Ben’s victory over Chris Eubank Jr. in a middleweight bout, he came out of the woodwork after being called out by the new champion post-fight.. Stevenson said he would be willing to fight at welterweight with a rehydration clause.

Benn later reportedly told the media that he would not accept a stipulation of weighing just 10 pounds over the 147-pound limit the morning of the fight, even though it was the same condition Eubank Jr. was subjected to in both of their fights.

However, in a Current status of boxingBenn changed his mind about the clause and said he would agree, but asked for adequate financial compensation for accepting the clause. He also said he believed Wembley Stadium should host.

“Hey, Shakur, Wembley, locked in. Get ready. You want the rehydration clause, you gotta pay for it. I’m still going to break your ass. Hit 147 for the first time in three years and I’m still going to give it to you.”

That clears the way for this fight, but it’s worth noting that Benn is also currently openly targeting WBA welterweight world champion Rolando Romero as well as the winner of WBC champion Mario Barrios’ upcoming defense against Ryan Garcia. Promoter Eddie Hearn says he would like to see his leader compete in a world title fight next.
