The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced its final stance for the ICC T20 World Cup. They finally decided to comply with the government’s order even though they qualified for the knockout rounds and scheduled a match against India.
Pakistan’s stubbornness has taken away the entire momentum of the upcoming T20 World Cup. Although many claimed that the attack was not against India or the BCCI but against the ICC for not meeting the BCB’s demands. They feel that the ICC has met India’s strategy of not participating in the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, so why not do the same when Bangladesh refused to travel to India?
However, the ICC mentioned on several occasions that the Bangladesh match could not be shifted due to logistical challenges as tickets for the match at the Eden Gardens had already been sold.

PCB to follow government orders if knockout encounters India again
The Pakistan government allowed the PCB to send its team to Sri Lanka for the ICC T20 World 2026; however, they issued a boycott against the match against India on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
The PCB is also abiding by its government’s decision, so Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that they will make their plans clear to the ICC on Monday. The Pakistani government announced the news live on Sunday.
According to the latest reports, PCB sources confirmed to PTI that the PCB will follow the government’s instructions even if they play against India in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup knockout round.
“The government has also informed the board that the national team will not play against India on February 15 and lose World Cup points. As for the situation where Pakistan may need to play India in the knockout stages, the board will also follow whatever decision the government takes at that time,” PCB sources said.
PCB accuses ICC of bias: ‘One committee cannot be allowed to govern world cricket’
Mohsin Naqvi, in his meeting with the Pakistan Chief Minister, asked him to take a decision that would keep them in contention but he also made it clear that the PCB would agree to whatever decision the government takes regarding the T20 World Cup.
“As far as cricket boards are concerned, there has been a growing feeling for some time that the International Cricket Council, which is not just dealing with a number of other boards and more recently Bangladesh, cannot be allowed to govern world cricket by one board,” the source said.
The PCB accused the ICC of only listening to the claims made by one committee (which they hinted at the BCCI) and therefore they stated that the body cannot be governed by a single committee. The attacks intensified after the uncontested election of former BCCI secretary Jay Shah as ICC president.
ICC to cut Pakistan T20 World Cup revenue
Immediately after Pakistan issued a statement boycotting the India match, the ICC gave it an ultimatum and warned of the consequences. In addition to the consequences, the ICC asked the PCB to reach a solution that is mutually acceptable and safeguards the interests of all stakeholders.
However, despite the ICC warning that the PCB would be cut off from their T20 World Cup revenue, the PCB did not listen to the ICC on the issue. There are claims that Pakistan’s revenue from the ICC is negligible, but this does not affect the committee.
