Premier League Darts League returns for new season on Thursday sky sports liveNewcastle will host the opening night of the 2026 schedule.

Eight of the world’s best darts players will battle it out over 17 nights, taking place every Thursday from 5 February to 28 May at venues across the UK and Europe.

World champion Luke Littler and reigning Premier League champion Luke Humphries headline the eight-man field, with world junior champion Gian van Veen and fellow Dutchman Michael van Gerwen the other automatic promotions.

Welsh duo Gervin Price and Jonny Clayton are also on the roster, with Stephen Bunting (bottom of the Premier League last year) and debutant Josh Lock the other wildcards to complete the squad.

Newcastle Premier League Darts Competition

Since 2022, each Premier League night has been transformed into a mini-tournament, with eight players competing in four quarter-finals, with the winners advancing to the semi-finals and then each night’s final.

Littler takes on Van Veen on the opening night – a rematch of the World Darts Championship final, with either Clayton or Roark awaiting the winner, Humphries taking on former world champion Price and Van Gerwen taking on Bunting.

Where is the Newcastle Premier League Darts tournament held?

Newcastle’s first week takes place at the Utilita Arena.

The venue, previously known as Newcastle Stadium, Telewest Stadium and Metro Radio Stadium, has a maximum capacity of approximately 11,000 people.

It was first used as a Premier League venue in 2007 and has been part of the Premier League calendar every year since, with the exception of 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Who won Newcastle’s Premier League night last year?

Newcastle hosted Week 8 of the 2025 Premier League season and Littler claimed their fourth of six wins that year, beating Humphries 6-1 in the final.

Littler defeated Stephen Bunting 6-0 and Rob Cross 6-3 to reach the final, while Michael Smith (2022), Price (2023) and Van Gerwen (2024) were also winners in Newcastle the night before.
