The New York Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 112-100, and the defending champion Thunder defeated the Denver Nuggets 121-111.

The New York Knicks spoiled LeBron James’ final game at Madison Square Garden with a 112-100 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, extending their winning streak to six games.

OG Anunoby scored 25 points and reserve Landry Shamet scored 23 to lead the Knicks to victory on Sunday night.

Four-time NBA MVP James, a 41-year-old Lakers star, remains uncommitted after this season, his NBA-record 23rd, but said playing at the Garden means “everything” to him.

“This is the mecca of basketball in New York. This is the Big Apple. At MSG, a lot of people have walked through this court, basketball, entertainment, actors, musicians, everything. It’s people from all aspects of America that grace this court,” James said.

“I hope I’m like a small part of the people that come here and make a small impact from a visitor’s perspective. It’s always cool here. I’ve always loved the fans.”

While James stopped short of saying this was his farewell at the Garden, he noted that “when the time comes, it will always hold a special place.”

Josh Hart contributed 20 points for the Knicks, and All-Star guard Jalen Brunson had 12 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists.

“We just play together,” Brunson said of their winning streak. “Staying together, that’s the most important part, supporting each other and holding each other accountable.

“We have to keep doing this. There’s no room for contentment. This is a collective effort.”

The Knicks improved to 31-18, ranking second in the Eastern Conference behind Detroit.

Despite Luka Doncic’s 30 points and James’ 22 points, the Lakers lost 29-19. James was named to the All-Star Game as a reserve by NBA coaches for a record 22nd time.

“Super humbling,” James said. “Big respect to the coaches. To play in the later stages of my career and still be an All-Star, it means a lot.”

It was the Lakers’ first loss of the season after taking a halftime lead.

Spurs, Thunder win

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 34 points and 13 assists, Carson Wallace hit seven three-pointers and scored a career-high 27 points, and defending champion Oklahoma City defeated Denver 121-111.

“We knew if we wanted to get the W Award, we had to bring it into this building,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.

French star Victor Vembanyama contributed 25 points, 8 rebounds, 5 blocks, 4 steals and 2 assists to lead the Spurs to a 112-103 victory over Orlando at home.

The game was postponed until the night because the Spurs (33-16) had trouble flying out of snowstorm-hit Charlotte.

Cleveland’s Jarrett Allen had 40 points and 17 rebounds, and the Cavaliers beat Portland 130-111.

Detroit defeated visiting Brooklyn 130-77 with Jalen Duren scoring 21 points and Cade Cunningham scoring 18 points and 12 assists in the most lopsided victory in franchise history.

Swedish guards Per Larsson and Bam Adebayo each scored 20 points and host Miami beat Chicago 134-91 for the third-largest win in Heat history.

Jaylen Brown had 30 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Boston Celtics to a 107-79 victory over Milwaukee.

RJ Barrett scored 21 points, Brandon Ingram scored 19 points, and Toronto defeated Utah State 107-100 at home. Finland’s Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz with 27 points.

Washington rookie Will Riley scored 18 points off the bench to lead the host Wizards to a 116-112 victory over Sacramento, extending the Kings’ losing streak to six games.

Kawhi Leonard scored 20 points, Ivica Zubac had 14 points and 20 rebounds, and the Los Angeles Clippers beat Phoenix 117-93.
