Former opener Aakash Chopra took a dig at Pakistan after the team threatened to boycott the 2026 T20 World Cup against India. The two bitter rivals are scheduled to meet in Group A on February 7 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
However, new controversy has erupted over the tent conflict. The Pakistan government announced on Sunday that the men’s team in green will participate in international ICC events but not against India.
Chopra Accusing Pakistan of “hypocrisy”, it was pointed out that the news was released on the same day as Pakistan’s 2026 U19 World Cup match against India. The cricketer-turned-commentator wrote on X:
“Pakistan decided not to play India in the ICC on the very day Pakistan played India in the ICC. Hypocritical ki spelled as sahi hai?”

India Pakistan will face the United States at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, while Pakistan will take on the Netherlands at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.

Aakash Chopra made a separate X post stating that Pakistan is not boycotting the ongoing 2026 U19 World Cup against India. One fan tried to mock Chopra by suggesting that U19 cricket was “irrelevant”.
The 48-year-old surprised fans with his pointed response. He wrote:
“Mat send a team. Haar gaye toh Angoor Khatte hain…” (Then don’t send a team. Because you lose, sour grapes.)
Notably, India U19 defended a target of 253 runs against Pakistan U19 at Queen’s Sports Club, Bulawayo. The men in green were bowled out for 194 runs. Pakistan were eliminated from the tournament due to defeat.
India, on the other hand, will face Afghanistan in the semi-finals on Wednesday, February 4, at Harare Sports Club.
