ICE halts operations at Dilley facility due to two measles cases

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has halted “all activity” at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in Texas due to measles outbreakofficials announced Sunday.

The Department of Homeland Security said two detainees were diagnosed with the disease on Saturday, the same day a 5-year-old boy and his father, whose detention last month sparked widespread alarm, were released from the facility.

“On January 31, 2026, the Texas Department of State Health Services confirmed that two detainees at the Texas Dilley Immigration Processing Center had active measles infections,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

She added that ICE health officials are taking steps to isolate those involved until the situation is fully under control.

“ICE Health Services teams took immediate steps to isolate and contain further spread and infection, halting all activity within the facility and quarantining all individuals suspected of coming into contact with the infected individual,” McLaughlin said.

“Medical staff are continuing to monitor the conditions of detainees and will take appropriate and proactive measures to prevent further infection. All detainees will be provided with appropriate medical care“.
