“This decision is based on our responsibility as a not-for-profit pediatric health care system to continue to serve all children and families,” the statement continued.
It comes as the Trump administration continues to target facilities that provide transgender-related treatment to people under the age of 18 after the end of his presidential term. donald trump An executive order from a year ago called on the Department of Health and Human Services to protect children from “chemical and surgical mutilation.”
Last year, California was among a group of 19 Democratic-led states and Washington, D.C., that sued the Trump administration over statements it sought to limit gender reassignment treatment for minors.

Treatments such as puberty blockers, hormone therapy and gender transition surgery are unsafe and ineffective for children with gender dysphoria, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
It also warns doctors that if they provide these treatments to minors, they could be excluded from federal health programs, including Medicare and Medicaid.
