Have you seen similar games? We don’t think so. tottenham hotspur This season has been poor at home, to say the least, and the atmosphere when title challengers Manchester City came into town reflected that.
You could hear a pin drop in the stadium, but it didn’t help matters as City went into the break with a 2-0 lead.
Rayan Cherki opened the scoring before Antoine Semenyo, who was linked with Tottenham in January, struck.
The boos from the players as they left the pitch at halftime were some of the loudest we heard in the first 45 minutes, but that quickly changed.
any Thomas Frank Speaking to his players at half-time worked wonders. City should have disappeared from sight before the start of the second half, but Spurs rallied and somehow salvaged a point thanks to a brace from Dominic Solanke.
Yves Bissouma’s stats against Manchester City
Yves Bissouma It’s fair to say, along with his manager, that it’s been a nightmare for him.
He was left out of the Super Cup squad against PSG at the start of the season for disciplinary reasons, described as “persistently late”, and has barely played since the Dane took over from Anj Postkoglu this summer.
In fact, this was only his second start of the season and his third appearance under Frank. While he will certainly be rusty after a few months playing on the periphery, his performance against Pep Guardiola’s side is a good example of why he will play very little in 2025/26.
In fact, it was the midfielder who led to the opener when he was intercepted in midfield. Erling Haaland eventually won the ball and although he didn’t score, he set up Cherki to easily find the corner.
When it comes to Bissouma, it’s a game moment that Tottenham fans are all too familiar with. It was another moment where he let his team down.
Unsurprisingly, with Spurs in hot pursuit, the Malian was also substituted after receiving a yellow card in the 68th minute. He did complete 94 percent of his passes, but didn’t do much, not even shoot, complete dribbles, or provide key passes to teammates. He also won only two out of five duels.
That being said, from Lily White’s perspective, Bissouma isn’t the only one who has failed to set the world on fire.
Man City must sell Tottenham defender after display
Bissouma struggled, but he wasn’t the only player to make Frank’s team pay on Sunday. In fact, another player on the outside is known as Radu Dragusin He did not cover himself in glory.
Like his midfield colleagues, he has seen little action this season as he recovers from an ACL injury. It was his first start of the season and it was a baptism of fire after playing just six minutes under Frank before this game.
There’s no doubt Dragusin will face an easier challenge than he did against Haaland, but even so he’s demonstrated exactly why he’s never really been the leading option in north London.
Like Bissouma, Dragusin was also responsible for the first goal. Cherki received the ball on the edge of the area but the Romanian didn’t do much to help his goalkeeper.
The centre-back closed in on Cherki but was not tight enough, resulting in a free-kick which went into the goal.
It was a quintessential moment in Dragusin’s Spurs career. He is error-prone and with Luka Vuskovic set to return from his loan spell at Hamburg this summer, the Romania international will certainly not get many chances in Tottenham’s starting XI.

The 23-year-old centre-back still has plenty of time to develop, but Frank clearly doesn’t have much time.
Of course, Spurs are plagued by some injury problems right now, but Dragusin will have to be sacked once Mickey van de Veen is fit again. That doesn’t sound like a shameless statement, but Tottenham Hotspur writer Mitch Fretton is quoted as saying that his performance against Manchester City this weekend was indeed “absolutely horrendous” and doesn’t deserve a place in the squad. He’s really “very scary”
If anything, Frank would be better off not just dropping him from the starting lineup but asking ENIC to sell him sooner rather than later.
