Russian drone attack on Ukrainian bus kills at least 12 Russia-Ukraine war news


A Russian drone attack killed 12 miners and injured seven others in the Dnepropetrovsk region of Ukraine.

At least 12 people has been killed Ukraine’s energy minister said a Russian drone struck a bus carrying miners in the Dnepropetrovsk region of southeastern Ukraine.

“Today, the enemy carried out a cynical and targeted attack on energy sector workers in the Dnipro region,” Energy Minister Denis Shmihal posted on Telegram on Sunday.

“The terrorist attack killed 12 miners and injured seven others.”

Police said the attack took place in the city of Trnivka. Video released by the state emergency service showed a charred bus with shattered windows veering off the road.

Energy company DTEK said in a statement that the dead and injured were its employees returning from get off work.

Earlier on Sunday, regional officials said Russian attacks on a maternity hospital and a residential building in the southeastern city of Zaporozhye wounded at least nine people.

The attacks came days after U.S. President Donald Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to temporarily halt attacks on Ukraine’s capital, Kiev, and other cities as freezing temperatures caused widespread hardship for Ukrainians.

The Kremlin confirmed on Friday that it had agreed to suspend attacks on Kiev until Sunday, but did not reveal any further details.

Russia and Ukraine held trilateral talks with the United States in the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi last month and are expected to hold a second round of talks this month as Washington continues pressure to end their nearly four-year war.

Ukrainian President Zelensky said on Sunday, Second round of talks ‍It will be held in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and Thursday.

While Ukrainian and Russian officials agree in principle with Washington’s compromise demands, Moscow and Kiev are deeply divided over what a deal should look like.

A central question is whether Russia should retain or withdraw from areas of Ukraine occupied by its troops, particularly Donbas, the industrial center of eastern Ukraine, and whether it should acquire land it has not yet captured.
