After the win, Stevenson first discussed his performance against Lopez.
“I feel good. I separated him, I did what I was supposed to do. I said that’s how I’ve boxed my whole career, that’s the art of boxing. Hit, don’t get hit. I told you guys I’m the best boxer on the planet and I stand by that.
“I looked at him and I knew my jab was going to kill him. They’re going to say after this fight that I threw the best jab in boxing. I saw his weakness and exploited it. I feel like I’m the stronger fighter, I feel like I’m faster, smarter, sharper.”
Stevenson later participated in a confrontation with Connor Benn and revealed that he wanted to compete next.
“Where’s Connor Benn? We can get it, boy. I want the same rehydration terms you had on Eubank Jr., I want the fight. I have too many skills. Sign the contract and let’s make it happen.”
Ben last competed in November when he exacted revenge on long-time rival Chris Eubank Jr. in their middleweight bout, but now he’ll drop back to welterweight for his next fight.
He has been linked to world title fights with the likes of Rolly Romero and Mario Barrios, but now a fight with Stevenson seems likely.
