Earlier tonight, it seemed like Jon Moxley had just spoken about his immediate future in AEW. He has hinted at pursuing one of the top stars on the roster and risking his belt against them.
In addition to his Intercontinental Championship duties, Mox has also been dealing with a brewing feud with the Don Callis family. The two factions finally came into conflict. Although the death knights were smaller in number, they did not back down.
A few days ago on Dynamite, both factions became embroiled in each other’s affairs. The Purveyor of Violence is in an elimination match with Ace Austin. He emerged victorious that night, but immediately faced Takeshita Konosuke. After a tense exchange between the two, Jon Moxley was suddenly caught off guard by Mark Davis and Jack Doyle, seemingly sending a message to Don Callis.
Mox was rewarded later in the night when he interfered with Davis and Doyle’s match with FTR, costing him a chance to become the AEW World Tag Team Champions.
He talked about this a while back on Collision and mentioned how they were square after everything that happened on Dynamite. However, Jon Moxley The story of Konosuke Takeshita is far from over. Their factionalism aside, he wanted to face him because Alpha was able to beat him cleanly at the Continental Classic.
This looks set to lead to a match between them for the AEW Continental Championship. The match has yet to be officially announced by Tony Khan, but with The Grand Slam: Australia set to take place in just two weeks, it could be the perfect venue for this blockbuster match.
Takeshita has yet to respond to the challenge, but considering the way he approached Moxley in the first place, the match is a sure thing. This will be booked by AEW.
