Appearing on January 21st in “Dan Buettner Podcast,” the 80-year-old actress talks about the “coddling of the American mind” and why she disagrees with the philosophy.

“They have to not get what they want. They have to fight,” she explains. “I don’t like the tension I have with Katie. I’m not going to keep going out and buying her a bunch of clothes because she’ll outgrow them, which I think is a crazy waste of money. And let me tell you, she makes clothes that no one cares about.”

She also stressed the importance of letting “your kids work at home” or getting them involved in sports.

Horn shared that all three of her sons play field hockey, which she said is “an amazing sport for kids” and really helps them “learn how to take a hit.”

During the interview, the “Overboard” star also talked about her a decades-long relationship Marriage to Kurt, attributes its success to the “freedom” she felt in the relationship, even though she never married.

“Even if we did get married, it wouldn’t make any difference because it’s been 42 years now. But I have a relationship with birds. I love them. It’s a wonderful relationship… But I do believe that if I were a bird and you opened the cage door, I might never fly out.

She continued: “But if you closed that door, I would probably shed all my feathers for my freedom and independence. It’s the freedom of self to be free and basically not blend in with other people.

Kurt and Hawn first met on the set of The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band in 1966, but did not start dating again until 1983, when they worked together on the film Swing Shift.

In the podcast, she also commented her sexual chemistry with Kurthighlighting its importance. She has previously spoken publicly about the importance of physical intimacy in a relationship, telling E! News: “You have to have a good sex life.”

“Because sex is something that connects you together and creates more of a sense of belonging,” she said. “People who have healthy sexual relationships tend to last longer. But it’s not just because of the act, it’s because of the warmth and intimacy it creates.”

Since their relationship began, the two have blended their families, which include Hawn’s two children from a previous relationship, actors Oliver and Kate Hudson, and Kurt’s son Boston from ex-wife Jiji Hubley.
