In July 2025, the two men appeared to publicly chart a new course for their relationship as Florida backed Trump’s policies after the president brushed off their previous conflict over the 2024 election race.

In an interview with “Good Morning New Hampshire” in June 2023, DeSantis said Trump’s attacks were “childish” and said he believed a factor in Trump’s election defeat 2020 election.

But the two appear to be putting the past behind them in 2025, with Trump reiterating that they have “Very respectful” For each other.

“You are my friend and you will always be my friend,” Trump told DeSantis in July 2025 during a trip to the Florida Everglades to open an immigration detention center. “We might even have some skirmishes in the future, I doubt it. But we’ll always come back because our bloodlines seem to be a good match.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House and DeSantis for comment.

While DeSantis won’t be able to run for governor again in 2026 after his term expires, he recently weighed in on the issue. 2026 midterm electionsand told conservative commentator Mark Levin that he believed Democrats would seek to develop plans to impeach Trump if they regained control of the House.

“They will do whatever it takes – which may include trying Fabricating another impeachment — to be able to throw sand into the gears and prevent the president from doing the job he was elected to do,” DeSantis said in an interview on “The Mark Levin Show” on Tuesday.
