US military issues warning to Iran ahead of live-fire drill in Strait of Hormuz

this U.S. military Iran has been warned that it will not tolerate “any unsafe and unprofessional behavior” by U.S. forces in the Middle East as Tehran prepares to conduct live-fire naval exercises in the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement comes as Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is about to launch operations 2 days of workout starting Sunday, according to U.S. Central Command. President Donald Trump announced this week that “The huge armada is advancing Headed to Iran,” led by the USS Abraham Lincoln.

“U.S. forces recognize Iran’s authority to conduct professional operations in international airspace and waters,” U.S. Central Command said in a statement. “Any unsafe and unprofessional behavior near U.S. forces, regional partners, or commercial vessels increases the risk of collision, escalation, and instability.”

The statement added: “CENTCOM will ensure the safety of U.S. personnel, ships and aircraft operating in the Middle East. We will not tolerate unsafe actions by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including overflights of U.S. warships conducting missions, low-altitude or armed overflights of U.S. military assets with unknown intent, high-speed craft approaching collisions with U.S. warships, or U.S. military training weapons.”

The statement also said: “The United States military has the best-trained and most lethal forces in the world and will continue to operate with the highest level of professionalism and abide by international norms. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps must do the same.”

Central Command describes the Strait of Hormuz as “an international maritime lane and critical trade corridor that supports regional economic prosperity.”
