Venezuela’s interim president proposes mass amnesty law, closing notorious prison




Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodriguez announced a push for mass amnesty in the country on Friday, saying she would propose a “general amnesty law that will cover the entire period of political violence from 1999 to the present.” She also announced plans to close the notorious El Helicoide prison in Caracas, where rights groups claim political prisoners are being tortured by Nicolas Maduro’s intelligence services.
