Stephen Curry was forced to Golden State Warriors His right knee worsened in Friday night’s 131-124 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
The Warriors guard took issue late in the third quarter when he drew a fumble despite being fouled with 4:28 left.
Curry was seen dazed and limping after the whistle and left the game 20 seconds later. He spoke briefly with the team trainers before heading to the locker room.
Curry was icing his right knee after the game and was still limping when he left the arena. He did not address reporters.
The problem is not new. Curry appeared on the Warriors’ injury report earlier this week after experiencing swelling and discomfort in one knee after an individual workout in Minneapolis. The problem was described by the team as patellofemoral inflammation.
“I think it’s OK,” head coach Steve Kerr said after the game. “I don’t think it’s anything big, but we’ll have an update on Saturday.”
Kerr later confirmed that the soreness was related to the same knee problem that kept Curry out of Monday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“It’s been nagging him lately,” Kerr said.
Curry scored 23 points in 25 minutes before being withdrawn. He was listed as questionable for last Sunday’s game in Minneapolis but played through the issue in the win against the Timberwolves.
The Warriors then rested him for Monday’s rematch, before clearing him for Wednesday’s road game against the Utah Jazz and Friday’s meeting with Detroit.
Golden State now has a three-day bye Returned to action on Tuesday at home against the Philadelphia 76ers.
