Are tightening Western oil sanctions finally taking their toll on the Russian economy?




Russia’s oil and gas revenues fell by a fifth in 2025 to a five-year low. But while Western sanctions have no doubt played a role, experts remain unconvinced that Moscow’s mounting budget woes will alter its determination to continue its aggressive push into Ukraine.
