India’s ace batsman Shreyas Iyer showcased his prowess against spin during a net practice ahead of the fifth T20I against New Zealand. On the eve of the match, the right-handed batsman smashed wrist-spinner Ravi Bishnoi for a stunning six at the Greenfield International Stadium.
While Tilak Varma recovers from injury, Shreyas Iyer continues to remain in the team but is yet to get any game time in the series. Although Ishan Kishan was ruled out of the match due to a minor issue, the batsman was not considered for the fourth T20I in Vizag.
The 31-year-old also had a lengthy net session in Vizag, focusing on short serves and continues his preparations for India’s final match before the 2026 T20 World Cup. Notably, he is not in the lineup for the upcoming game.

The likes of Suryakumar Yadav have entered the World Cup in near-ideal form over the past six months, with back-to-back wins over New Zealand, South Africa and Australia en route to the 2025 Asia Cup title. They are now caught in the middle, facing the temptation to experiment further and the need to play out a first-choice starting XI in their final games before the World Cup.
India has been tweaking their line-up in the ongoing series and after winning the first three games, they have sealed the victory.
