U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (iceAn illegal immigrant from Egypt was arrested Friday and accused of raping a 16-year-old girl as she slept in her bed on New Year’s Eve in Tennessee.

Mena Mohsen Farez Nmn Awad, 31, allegedly broke into a Nashville apartment and began sexually assaulting her victim As she fell asleep in the bed next to her nephew, WSMV-TV report.

The girl allegedly found Awad lying on the bed with a handgun in his waistband and was sexually assaulted, the outlet reported.

She later broke free, grabbed her nephew, and told Awad she would not tell anyone about it if he left.

Awad has a history of violence since entering the United States through the United States in 2017, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Diversity Visa Program.

He was previously charged with domestic violenceintimidation, possession of a weapon, violation of a court order and vehicle theft, the agency said.

“Horrible immigration policies allowed this monster to enter our country and victimize children and families,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “The Diversity Lottery program allowed this child rapist to enter our country. Secretary Noem paused the Diversity Lottery to ensure that no more Americans are harmed by this disastrous program.”

McLaughlin added that ICE’s arrest of the detainer will “ensure he is not released onto our streets to harm more children.”

The victim called her sister, who contacted authorities after Awad left the residence, according to DHS.

Awad was later arrested by police in Louisville. kentuckyJan. 16 and will be extradited to Tennessee the next week.
