Schumer and his caucus are determined to enact a raft of additional reforms and on Wednesday dropped three categories of restrictions on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that many Republicans had balked at.

“These are not radical demands,” Schumer said on the Senate floor. “They are the foundational standards that the American people have come to expect from law enforcement. The House Rules Committee is the final gatekeeper before most legislation gets a vote from the full chamber, meaning further action on the package it advanced Sunday could come as early as Monday.
