“I think whatever happened in Bangladesh, we provided security; everything was there. I think it’s their fault,” Suresh Raina said sternly in an interview with NDTV outside the World Legends Pro T20 League.

Suresh Raina feels that the Bangladesh cricket team can put up a strong fight in the tournament due to the conditions. Bangladesh cricketers are well aware of the conditions in the subcontinent and they have some good spinners as well.

“If they come to India, it will be different because Bangladesh are very, very strong. Their spinners understand the conditions very well. I think they will lose a lot,” Raina added.

Raina issues warning to Pakistan

But what happens if Pakistan decides to boycott the tournament? The former cricketer said that if Pakistan is determined to do so, then the ICC can take significant action against them.

“As the ICC president has said, they will take strict action against those who do not come to India,” Raina said.

There are reports that Pakistan could boycott the World Cup completely or partially. Some reports strongly claim that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may not dare boycott the entire tournament out of concern as their matches are being played at neutral venues in Sri Lanka. According to media reports, the PCB could consider not playing the India match on February 15 instead of skipping the game.

PCB boss Mohsin Naqvi and the Pakistan government are yet to make their stance clear after expressing support for Bangladesh. The PCB can inform their final decision on February 2.
