Legendary Indian Dreidel Ravichandran Ashwin Sanju Samson’s defense has now been strengthened. He referred to the growing pressure behind Sanju Samson’s lean operation and going against the standards set by former teammate Yuzvendra Chahal, who urged the Indian management to demand changes.
A few days ago, India lost to New Zealand due to a collective failure in the batting order. New Zealand won the fourth match with an emphatic 50-run win after registering three dominant victories in the first three T20Is.
Several players failed to perform in the game; however, it was Sanju Samson who received the most criticism. Abhishek SharmaSuryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh are not as lacking in runs as Sanju Samson. Samson scored just 40 points in 4 games series Averaged 10 points per game with a disappointing shooting percentage.

Ravichandran Ashwin says stress was the main reason he lost weight
Sanju Samson has clearly struggled to maintain his form in the shortest format of the tournament. This marks the only format in which he has played for them at international level and recent swaps involving players have taken away the charm of his batting.
Although Samson recently returned to the Indian team, replacing Shubman Gill, his form has been very poor. Ravichandran Ashwin, former India spinner and Sanju Samson’s other Rajasthan Royals teammate, said the increasing pressure was one of the main reasons for Samson’s batting difficulties.
“If you are not a good player, you cannot get here. When your mind is clouded with so many thoughts, it is difficult to choose lengths and lines. I am very sure something is going on in his mind,” Ravichandran Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
He also believes that players should not be deprived of their place; he should be sacked if India considers it Ishan Kishan Joining Abhishek Sharma in the starting XI.
“We can’t create a spot for a player. It’s not about running with a player and counting on it. Telling players to rest is also important. Sometimes sitting out and reflecting can make you a better player. I don’t agree that he should go back to the middle order. You can’t create a spot for a player; then others will rotate around it,” Ashwin added.
Ashwin backs Sanju Samson to make comeback with bat
After pointing out Samson’s concerns, Ravichandran Ashwin also pointed out the batsmen’s weaknesses, which has almost become a routine for the bowlers against him.
“They bowled Sanju over the middle and leg because he didn’t move forward or backward. It has really gotten to the point where it’s pushing the player. He’s been pushed to a place where he has to show something else to the bowlers,” observed Ravichandran Ashwin.
Ravichandran Ashwin believes that he has been trying to do something because he is not comfortable with the plan, which has been executed against him many times. Ashwin also said that Sanju has been trying hard to break the shackles but has not yet achieved results.
“It may take time but he is at least thinking about how to put pressure on the bowlers. That is a good sign. But he is walking a delicate line and Ishan in the dugout will bring pressure,” he concluded.
Will Sanju Samson start in New Zealand T20I final?
Team India already leads the series 3-1 and the final game of the series could be Sanju Samson’s last chance to finalize his squad for India’s T20I matches at the ICC T20 World Cup. The bigger question, however, is whether Samson will get a chance to appear in an upcoming game in the series.
If India plans to replace Samson with Ishant Kishan, then they will have to finalize the combination by having Abhishek Sharma and Ishant Kishan mesh with each other. Both are carefree forwards who can be irresponsible when put together.
